Losing an entire person

On October 17, we got together (either in person or on the phone) and discovered that we, 6 people, were carrying around a 7th person. Some of us were carrying an arm or the head, some of us the legs and one of us, the entire torso. That extra body HAD TO GO!!!

Laurie: 20lbs
Theresa: 21lbs
Mario: 23Lbs
Max: 30lbs
Angie: 30lbs
James: 52lbs

We're going to use "weigh ins" as an excuse to get together each month, with the host providing a low calorie, healthy meal to encourage each other with the dismemberment!

Our first goal is 44lbs lost. That's only 1/4lb per day per person!

Off with its head... and maybe an arm too !!!!

Amount Lost

Hi Theresa, I think we should post the amount lost so we need to post the original amount we wanted to lose. So I have 50 pounds to lose down 3.2 pounds 46.7 pounds to go. I didn't know where Max started that is why I posted the amount on the scale. Had a bad day of eating today as I had to grab something on the go which was fast food. I'm going to hit the treadmill to even it out.

Do we really want this out there???

I know I was suposed to post our original numbers, but is that something we really want out there? Yes, vanity thy name is Theresa but it may also be Laurie, Angie, Max, James or Mario ;)

One alternative might be to only post after each weigh-in, posting only the amount lost, not the number on the scale.

Let me know what you think.....majority rules, so if you feel strongly either way, don't stay silent!

Reality check

Obviously patience is not a virtue that I possess! Every day, before my shower, I step on the scale and start my day with a little 'yeah me' moment because the numbers are dropping. However, yesterday morning.... big FAT NADA!!! Not a tenth of a change :P This morning, my numbers were actually higher! Obviously my crappy night shift eating schedule (or lack thereof) has wrecked havoc on my momentum. I found that with waking up at 1pm, I was only eating the breakfast and dinner meals and skipping right over the lunch. I don't tend to eat when I'm on nightshift so even pushing in the one meal was hard, but to try 2 I found impossible. That means that I was only taking in 700 calories a day. I was on the treadmill for an hour each day, finishing 3 miles in 1 hour (430 calories). Lesson learned, I MUST eat all 3 meals and all of the 1300 calories or my body isn't going to give up anything.

I'm hoping to get back on track this week.

James is kicking diet ass! He has been diligent with his meals and his vitamens and squeezes time on the treadmill in whenever possible. I'm going to leave his weight loss numbers a surprise for the first weigh in but let's just say that if patience is a virtue that I don't possess, envy is something I've got in spades!!!

Angie's update

I had my first weigh-in yesterday and was happy with a 3.2 pound weight loss. I think the majority of the difference is coming from walking on the treadmill. I have been walking 30 minutes and was able to do 6 days last week. I'm hoping to do at least 5 times a week or more. I also go down from 40 to 39 points this week. I think maybe my extra 10 breastfeeding points are also making sure I lose the weight slowly which is a good thing for Lukas as I think if I drop weight quickly it would reduce my milk supply. I'm very happy with last week now on to next week.

Time for the Redecopps to weigh in (verbally at least)

We’ve been plugging away at this since the day after Thanksgiving (Oct 12). Every morsel of food heading into our mouths has been weighed and measured. Our daily calorie counts are 1100 for Theresa and 1300 for James. This week, it’s party time! We’re being raised to 1300 and 1500 respectively. WOOHOO!

As we didn’t have a proper (read: accurate) scale until week 2, we really don’t know what we started out at. However, now that we have a shiny new scale, we have been watching our numbers drop daily. It’s amazing the power those dropping numbers hold (even if they are on the right side of the decimal). Fantastic motivation.

Our treadmill has replaced our popcorn maker as the ‘most used appliance in the house’. The rule is that we can only watch our PVR’d shows if we are on the treadmill…and the treadmill has to be turned on ;) (Yes! That needed to be said!) For someone who absolutely hated exercise, I now find that I’m loving the 1hr dramas on the treadmill.

Hopefully this weight loss will result in record breaking speeds down the tubes at Canad’Inn in a couple of weeks.

Time to see the results

OK November 19, 2010, 6:30 pm at Angie & Max's for the first month weigh in. Can't wait to see if anyone of us is having success. By the way Mario was over and I don't think he's on the program so the rest of us will have to step up. Remember our first goal is 1/4 of the weight which is 44 pounds. I hope James is staying strong we may just reach our first goal.

Angie & Max update

I joined Weight Watchers yesterday and found out I get an extra 10 points for breastfeeding !! How great is that. Day 1 went well I eat good and was on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Hope it continues but I can't see how I can lose weight with all those extra points. If I don't see a different this week I may lower the extra breastfeeding points to 8. Here to a good day tomorrow.

Max has started a version of body for life. He eat well today but didn't get the workout in. Let see how the rest of the week ends up.

On our way
