Losing Focus

I was really sick last week and this has been a major set back. It has stopped my workouts and I have not been able to get back on track. I have been eating ok expect for the chocolates and Christmas cookies. I really need to cut those out and I know I would see big time results. It's funny as I know what to do I have been at this a long time but when the time comes and I have a cookie in front of me there is nothing I can do. It's like I'm not in my own body and I can control what I'm doing. My mind is saying stop don't eat it and my hand is reaching for the cookie or chocolate and it's not like it's one or two I'm talking 4 or 5. I'm like an additive that can't stop or say no and has lost all control. How to find that control again is the key to getting me back on track before the Christmas eating begins.

Keeping an eye on the ball..not the numbers

It's hard not to focus on the number on the scale regardless of how many times I am told that it is just a piece of the picture, not its entirety. So in keeping with that train of thought, here are some other numbers I'm focusing on...

1 .... the number of pant sizes I am down (and close to 2!)

1 .... the number of new members to our group of 6 loser (Welcome Sue!)

44+ ... the number of pounds we have lost since our first weigh in

52 ... the number of days until some of us leave for Mexico and have to squeeze into bathingsuits!

Only 4 days to go

I had another good week down 2 pounds for a total of 7, I'm also fitting into my size 16 jeans down a size and will have to pick up a new pair of jeans on friday in Grand Forks. Max is also back on track with a two pound weight loss this week. I find when I get on the treadmill I see results. so it's keeping the motivation going.

We will be in Grand Forks for Black Friday so I don't think we can do the weight in. I will have to keep you updated with texts. We don't like to shop all day and the wine is why we are going so I hope we will be back by 6:00. We may have to postpone until Saturday noon. Let me know if that's good for you as Mario is out as I have not heard anything from him. I also need to talk with Laurie to see what's up at that end. I really believe keeping in touch with the blog is helping me keep on track. It's also motivating to hear about your success and I don't want to let the group down. I think we are the final four. We will need to re calculate the quarter point as I think we may be up for a keg dinner soon. Keep up the good work James !!!!

Still plugging along

A few weeks into this, I bought myself a pair of "inspiration jeans"...jeans that were the next size down from what I was in at the time. The numbers on my scale are dancing high and dancing low but I must be doing something right because those "inspiration jeans" are now needing a belt in order to stay at a respectable spot on my hips :) I think it's time for a new pair of "inspiration jeans"!

James is still refusing to buy himself a pair of pants at his current size to keep himself motivated. His weight loss thus far warrants a new size as "plumbers' pants" are no longer the description...more like Grampa's pants!

Angie, I think you should weigh in with the rest of us. Leave your WW weight at WW :) James and I have been weighing ourselves naked, first thing in the morning. Our fully clothed night bodies are surely going to be heavier but that's the WEIGH it goes! The Keg will still be there if we do it in 4 months or 5!

Back on Track

So after a disappointing weight-in last week I am down 5 pounds this week and back on track. I'm going for it over the next two weeks and I hope that I will be down 10 pounds. The only thing is the scale at WW is different from the one at home. So we will have to use my WW numbers to keep consistent. I'm so happy we may hit our first goal. Max got on the treadmill for the first time last night. It may be a good sign.

Keep on track till we blog again.

Re-Boot

I don't know where we started I only know my weight. I think Theresa has the original weights down.

Looks like Max is at the original weight he started at and I was last week. I will get you an update tonight once I'm back from WW. I need to get back on the treadmill. It's funny that when your working full time again it's hard to fit in the time. I have also been in bed by 8:00 p.m. on the days I work so on the treadmill at night is not happening. We have been really busy at work but I am going to try again 3 time this week. I hope it helps to get me back on track. that being said I have lost inches I'm down 2 inches around my waist so I'm very happy about that. I hope by christmas to be down a jean size and another by Mexico. I really want to fit into a bathing suite that is not maternity again. Will keep you all posted.

Where are we at ?

So I have lost 5, max is down 2, where are you and James at ? Thanks for the heads up I'm going to look for the app now.

Angie

Diet help from the Crackberry

I don't know if anyone else has this app already but you can download "iFood Assistant lite" from Kraft Canada for free onto your blackberry. It has a Healthy Living section full of recipes that you can search and each has a Nutritional Guide available to make it easy to calculate WW points or watch your calorie count. We tried the "All in one Spaghetti Frittata" last night and James's comment was "you hit it out of the park with this one!". Not bad for a throw together meal using ingredients I already had at home!

First Milestone

My second weigh-in I am down 1.8 pounds and 5 pounds in total. This is so exciting even after all the chocolate consumed this Halloween. I got my first star at WW and I'm feeling really good. I have been on the treadmill so I know that it's helping. Maybe without the chocolates which are going to Max's work tomorrow, that I may be able to to see a bigger number. It looks like I have 25 pounds to go.

Max's update

I think that Max's trip to Toronto put a little hiccup in the weight lose. He is now at 224.5 which is still down put back up a little. I can also tell you that Halloween did not help any of us. We indulged in chocolates and chips and I'm only hoping I'm the same weight and not back up. Will up my update tonight.

Losing an entire person

On October 17, we got together (either in person or on the phone) and discovered that we, 6 people, were carrying around a 7th person. Some of us were carrying an arm or the head, some of us the legs and one of us, the entire torso. That extra body HAD TO GO!!!

Laurie: 20lbs
Theresa: 21lbs
Mario: 23Lbs
Max: 30lbs
Angie: 30lbs
James: 52lbs

We're going to use "weigh ins" as an excuse to get together each month, with the host providing a low calorie, healthy meal to encourage each other with the dismemberment!

Our first goal is 44lbs lost. That's only 1/4lb per day per person!

Off with its head... and maybe an arm too !!!!

Amount Lost

Hi Theresa, I think we should post the amount lost so we need to post the original amount we wanted to lose. So I have 50 pounds to lose down 3.2 pounds 46.7 pounds to go. I didn't know where Max started that is why I posted the amount on the scale. Had a bad day of eating today as I had to grab something on the go which was fast food. I'm going to hit the treadmill to even it out.

Do we really want this out there???

I know I was suposed to post our original numbers, but is that something we really want out there? Yes, vanity thy name is Theresa but it may also be Laurie, Angie, Max, James or Mario ;)

One alternative might be to only post after each weigh-in, posting only the amount lost, not the number on the scale.

Let me know what you think.....majority rules, so if you feel strongly either way, don't stay silent!

Reality check

Obviously patience is not a virtue that I possess! Every day, before my shower, I step on the scale and start my day with a little 'yeah me' moment because the numbers are dropping. However, yesterday morning.... big FAT NADA!!! Not a tenth of a change :P This morning, my numbers were actually higher! Obviously my crappy night shift eating schedule (or lack thereof) has wrecked havoc on my momentum. I found that with waking up at 1pm, I was only eating the breakfast and dinner meals and skipping right over the lunch. I don't tend to eat when I'm on nightshift so even pushing in the one meal was hard, but to try 2 I found impossible. That means that I was only taking in 700 calories a day. I was on the treadmill for an hour each day, finishing 3 miles in 1 hour (430 calories). Lesson learned, I MUST eat all 3 meals and all of the 1300 calories or my body isn't going to give up anything.

I'm hoping to get back on track this week.

James is kicking diet ass! He has been diligent with his meals and his vitamens and squeezes time on the treadmill in whenever possible. I'm going to leave his weight loss numbers a surprise for the first weigh in but let's just say that if patience is a virtue that I don't possess, envy is something I've got in spades!!!

Angie's update

I had my first weigh-in yesterday and was happy with a 3.2 pound weight loss. I think the majority of the difference is coming from walking on the treadmill. I have been walking 30 minutes and was able to do 6 days last week. I'm hoping to do at least 5 times a week or more. I also go down from 40 to 39 points this week. I think maybe my extra 10 breastfeeding points are also making sure I lose the weight slowly which is a good thing for Lukas as I think if I drop weight quickly it would reduce my milk supply. I'm very happy with last week now on to next week.

Time for the Redecopps to weigh in (verbally at least)

We’ve been plugging away at this since the day after Thanksgiving (Oct 12). Every morsel of food heading into our mouths has been weighed and measured. Our daily calorie counts are 1100 for Theresa and 1300 for James. This week, it’s party time! We’re being raised to 1300 and 1500 respectively. WOOHOO!

As we didn’t have a proper (read: accurate) scale until week 2, we really don’t know what we started out at. However, now that we have a shiny new scale, we have been watching our numbers drop daily. It’s amazing the power those dropping numbers hold (even if they are on the right side of the decimal). Fantastic motivation.

Our treadmill has replaced our popcorn maker as the ‘most used appliance in the house’. The rule is that we can only watch our PVR’d shows if we are on the treadmill…and the treadmill has to be turned on ;) (Yes! That needed to be said!) For someone who absolutely hated exercise, I now find that I’m loving the 1hr dramas on the treadmill.

Hopefully this weight loss will result in record breaking speeds down the tubes at Canad’Inn in a couple of weeks.

Theresa

Time to see the results

OK November 19, 2010, 6:30 pm at Angie & Max's for the first month weigh in. Can't wait to see if anyone of us is having success. By the way Mario was over and I don't think he's on the program so the rest of us will have to step up. Remember our first goal is 1/4 of the weight which is 44 pounds. I hope James is staying strong we may just reach our first goal.

Angie & Max update

I joined Weight Watchers yesterday and found out I get an extra 10 points for breastfeeding !! How great is that. Day 1 went well I eat good and was on the treadmill for 30 minutes. Hope it continues but I can't see how I can lose weight with all those extra points. If I don't see a different this week I may lower the extra breastfeeding points to 8. Here to a good day tomorrow.

Max has started a version of body for life. He eat well today but didn't get the workout in. Let see how the rest of the week ends up.

On our way
